"We become whatever we are committed to."

-Rick Warren

The primary focus of our organization is to extend aid to the poor and underprivileged of the world, typically during times of crisis.

Kokua  is a Hawaiian word meaning, "to help and to bring aid."

Kokua International  was established in Hawaii and is registered both in Hawaii and in Washington state.

Kokua is a non-denominational Christian organization. We are dedicated to bringing aid without strings attached and without hesitation to help, regardless of religious affiliation. We believe that compassion and love are fueled by the love of Jesus.

Louisiana Trips: September 13th - 20th and October 2nd-23rd

Hearts were moved with compassion when TV sets around the country showed the devastating effects of the three major hurricanes that pounded the Gulf region this past summer and fall. Thousands of people opened their pocketbooks to help fellow-Americans and others opened their homes to the displaced people of the region.

Kokua International took two trips to the region to bring in needed supplies. “We came alongside the churches and organizations that were hard at work from day one,” Jerry Frisk, director of Kokua stated. “Many of the churches were opening their doors to refugees, and were diligently working long hours to help the people in their communities.” At one church, Florida Blvd. Baptist Church, the congregation had turned their gym into a huge receiving center for goods that had been donated from around the country.

Refugees came daily to gather items needed, free of charge. These items were things such as toiletries, diapers, clothes, bedding, pots and pans, and food. The evacuees were also served three hot meals a day there, seven days a week. This incredible show of love and support was visible throughout Baton Rouge, where Kokua worked.

Kokua International returned for a second trip and brought more donated items into the city of New Orleans. The conditions there were difficult as mold had taken hold in many of the homes. The streets in many of the areas were still deserted.
